About this artwork
'Safi' was inspired by the navigation of a complex land that at first seems so foreign. A coastal fishing town on the north-western tip of Morocco that is home to a not so well known wave that is incredible for surfing. A place Jake dreamed about for years before realising it in person.
'Safi' represents the many moods of the area and an intriguing life by the sea that is filled with different colours and sights around every bend. Jake created… this work using acrylic paint to cover the entire canvas before he went to work with oil paint. Like many of Jake's works, he found inspiration through the detailed doorways and bright carpets found in Morocco.
