« My goal as an artist is to extract the memories of what freezes an identity and an individual, as well as what characterizes them through their emotions, experiences, and reminiscences. »
Jam Despas is a painter and photographer based in France whose works have been exhibited nationally. He cites the body as being the heart of his artistic reflection, he endeavors to understand by questioning what "constitutes it, what preoccupies it, what it expresses, and what builds it". Despas' creative process begins by photographing models in his studio. He then renders the images onto canvas, cardboard, or paper using oils, acrylics, and charcoal.
