About this artwork
'Metamorphosis' is a re-imagining of an older painting from 2015 called 'Harlequin'.
An injection of vibrant colours, combined with various media including spray paint and gold leaf have effectively given this painting a new lease of life. Much like the stages of metamorphosis that result in abrupt changes, this new result is drastically different in much of it's appearance.
The artist has worked outside of his normal comfort zone by applying… gold-leaf textures and spray paint, not previously seen in his portfolio. The other segments or shapes have a multitude of acrylic layers to try and enhance the appearance and overall finish of the paint. The subject content is left for deliberation but echoes many similarities with his other abstract work from recent years.
