A weary Goliath slowly steps into view, his head bowed but full of wisdom.
The style of this painting was inspired by a previous black and white painting of a matriarchal elephant. Both the rhino and elephant have such fantastic features, including the fold of their skin, wrinkled armour and huge bodies. I wanted to try and capture their powerful presence through strong contrasts and long, thick brushstrokes.
