The art works by James Shipton are heavily influenced the works of Degas and Gustav Klimt.His desire is to capture the beauty of the female human form, whilst portraying human isolation. He achieves this through a process of capturing reality through life drawing using charcoal sketches, breaking it down to deliver an impression of the human form, whilst capturing the psychological complexity… of the human nature through the portrayal of human isolation.
Following the breakdown of the human form, James uses the sketches to build and create paintings in oils.

James Shipton is an emerging British painter whose former training in medical science affords him an interest and understanding of human anatomy, something he harnesses to infuse in his artistic work. Heavily influenced by the styles of Degas, Schiele and Gustav Klimt, he composes paintings and drawings that seek to capture the beauty of the female form, as well as the inherently isolated human form.
