I work with… simple forms (squares, lines) and materials (paper, art board, wood, mdf, foam board) in simple rhythmic compositions. Everything that is not important can be left out. No colour, only white. With these minimal elements endless structures take shape, with no accents, no main issues, no side issues. No statements, no meanings, no symbols or messages. My work does not pretend to be more that itself: a composition of forms. That is why my work matches best with definitions, which are being used defining Concrete Art.

Jan Hendriks is a multi-disciplinary Dutch artist whose works are held in permanent collections in the Netherlands and the US, Mexico, Japan, Israel and in Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain and many other European countries. Working with simple forms and materials in understated rhythmic compositions, he excludes the redundant and unimportant to propose a body of work marked by minimalism. No piece pretends to be more than itself: a composition of forms, and in this way, Hendriks's works are peaceful and meditative, empty and strong, an image of infinity within a finite form.
