About this artwork
Most of these flowers have been grown from seed in my garden or have simply grown as wildflowers as welcome guests. My home sits on the border of the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales National Parks in Northern England, where gardens blend naturally with the surrounding countryside.
Each flower is picked carefully on a dry day as moisture is the enemy of pressed flowers! They are then placed in the press for around six weeks until they are perfectly… preserved.
When the flowers are ready I arrange them into a natural flowing composition reflecting how they might appear growing together in the garden.
In this piece you will see a mixture of wild flowers — buttercups, daisies, cow parsley and greater stitchwort — alongside plants I have grown myself, including sea holly, cosmos, hydrangea, hellebore, carnation, astrantia and bleeding heart.
Together they capture a small moment of an English garden in full bloom.
