About this artwork
This Painting was inspired by the IMAX documentary film, "Flight of the Butterflies". The movie chronicles the annual migration of the Monarch butterfly from Canada, through the U.S., down to Mexico and back. It explains their life cycle and how they get back to where they started, despite the fact that it is a new generation that returns. “Transformation” is the artist’s visualization of this wonderful mystery of nature.
Using a canvas substrate,… the artist applied carefully selected papers and gel mediums upon which many thin layers of shifting acrylic paint colors were added. Cut paper shapes suggest the clustering of the re-emergence of the 4 stages of their life cycle.
