About this artwork
Painting of the spirit of the month April in Latvia. Inspired by the colors, textures, smells and processes characteristic of April in Northern Europe. The sense of a new beginning which is about to start. But not yet. The work is an attempt to combine and depict all these notions using the means of visual language.

Janis Zingitis is a Latvian painter who has exhibited nationally as well as in Austria. He believes that realistic representation is the highest degree of abstraction, as humans are only capable of perceiving a small fraction of reality. Through his compositions, he wants to capture the world’s soul and reveal it to others. In the past, he has worked with watercolors, pastels, acrylics and collage. Currently, he is rediscovering his love of oil painting.
