About this artwork
Painting of spring, in early April, around the time of Easter, in the town of Cesis, Latvia. In the background, there are the ruins of the Cesis medieval castle, casting a beautiful reflection in the park pond. Mallard ducks are busy - mating season is here. The nuanced grey colors in spring are very subtle. The grey nuances make everything appear almost transparent.

Janis Zingitis is a Latvian painter who has exhibited nationally as well as in Austria. He believes that realistic representation is the highest degree of abstraction, as humans are only capable of perceiving a small fraction of reality. Through his compositions, he wants to capture the world’s soul and reveal it to others. In the past, he has worked with watercolors, pastels, acrylics and collage. Currently, he is rediscovering his love of oil painting.
