In the middle of a rural road, heading towards a water well, the journey came to an unexpected halt. A herd of calves appeared, blocking the path, occupying the trail with a serene yet resolute presence. There was no tension, no flight: only a silent encounter. I decided not to continue. They, calm and curious, remained there, as if they understood the gesture, naturally posing before the scene. This suspended moment—between human decision and animal…
stillness—gave rise to the work: a simple and honest dialogue with the landscape, where the journey is not measured by its destination, but by the encounters that transform it.

Javier Parra works with oil on canvas and initially trained in classical realist art workshops, returning to painting in 2017 with a contemporary exploration. He masters the palette knife and the alla prima technique, fusing natural and architectural landscapes in large formats, where texture and materiality intensify the visual experience.
