About this artwork
"In this work, I seek to capture the duality between architectural solidity and the fluidity of light in a moment as ephemeral as sunset. I use the palette knife technique to imbue the scene with character and relief, allowing the thick impasto to give the Venetian facades a life of their own. My intention is to move away from conventional realism to explore a figurative abstraction, where a palette of earth tones and mineral pigments takes center…
stage. Through these organic colors, I attempt to give the piece a universal warmth and a timeless elegance, transforming an iconic landscape into a reflection of my own aesthetic quest: a dance between the strength of the brushstroke and the serenity of the twilight."

Javier Parra works with oil on canvas and initially trained in classical realist art workshops, returning to painting in 2017 with a contemporary exploration. He masters the palette knife and the alla prima technique, fusing natural and architectural landscapes in large formats, where texture and materiality intensify the visual experience.
