About this artwork
Lord Shiva in asamprajnata samadhi (subjective meditation) abiding within himself. In this state, there is – “I am the only One” an experience of what is beyond all dualities.
This piece of art attempts to convey through the imagery of Lord Shiva the great advaitha(non-duality) philosophy, i.e. the self not being different from the universe. All colours of the universe blending in to make the picture whole just like Lord Shiva meditating upon… himself to become one with the whole.

Jay Menon is a passionate Indian painter who has exhibited his work in South Africa, India and Mauritius. His body of work contains a mix of abstract expressions and figurative depictions of mythological motifs, goddesses and legends. He creates subverted representations of familiar figures, intended to shock and amuse the viewer, and attempts more broadly to communicate the illusion of reality.
