About this artwork
In this work I captured the vibrant energy of pop art, the intensity of expressionism and the clarity of the figurative. With lithography and screen printing, I created a lively visual dialogue, where shapes juxtapose and primary colors burst against the bold contrast of black. It is a dance of abstract patterns and faces that evokes human complexity and emotional richness.
Jean Louis Mendrisse is a French painter and sculptor who has exhibited both nationally and in the Netherlands. His art depicts diverse emotions and moods, celebrating life and humanity in search of the past and meaning. Mendrisse also expresses the ephemeral through themes that include seduction, arguments, shyness, doubt, family, and dance. He paints using oils and acrylics on canvas or linen and also employs screen printing and lithography techniques. His sculptures are made with bronze, resin, and plastic.
