About this artwork
Whether it was his various depictions of Rouen Cathedral or his 250 paintings of water lilies, I have long wondered how and why Claude Monet was able to devote so much time and energy to reproducing the same subject. One evening, returning from the retrospective exhibition of Franco Fontana's photographic work in Brescia, I was walking on the heights of San Fermo. In the evening light, along a small pond, young water lilies reminded me of Monet.…
