About this artwork
This work explores a suspended interior space, between perception and withdrawal.
The surface, crafted from a dense, vibrant material, unfolds in almost hypnotic circular movements. It evokes a kind of mental drift, a state where consciousness expands and detaches itself from immediate reality. At the center, a dark vertical structure stands out like a fissure or a passage—an opening to another plane, more interior, more silent.
This contrast between… the organic flow of the background and the almost architectural rigor of the central form creates a tension. The gaze oscillates between immersion and focus, between surrender and control.
The Dreamer explores that particular state where one is no longer quite here, but not yet elsewhere. A liminal space, where reference points dissolve to give way to a more intimate, almost secret perception.
Jean-Marc Larhantec develops a painting constructed in resonance with sound. Each work is born from an immersion in an album, whose rhythm, tensions and silences it transposes into matter. His practice is rooted in physical and structured abstraction. The surface is worked in depth, through layers, loading and unloading, until unstable force fields are created, between equilibrium and rupture. Painting is not an image: it is a space of tension. The gesture engages the body as much as listening. It is not about illustrating the music, but about prolonging its effects, capturing an intensity and fixing it in matter. His works are thus constructed in a constant oscillation between control and letting go, structure and accident, density and breath.
