About this artwork
In this work, I sought to capture a surreal moment, with a touch of bittersweet irony. It’s a giclee painting where two chimpanzees appear through a train window, juxtaposing modern humanity with wild nature. This contrast awakens thoughts about freedom and the enclosed environment – an invitation to meditate on our own journey through life and our interactions with our world. This art adds unique depth and captivating conversation to any space.…

Jean-Marie Gitard (aka Mr. Strange), painter and digital artist, draws inspiration from the surrealism of Dali, Magritte, and Hooper. Using photomanipulation and digital collage techniques, with a rare use of oil paint, he creates enigmatic works with touches of absurdity. His works blend poetry and sharp criticism, arousing surprise, curiosity, and reflection by straddling the real world and the imaginary.
