About this artwork
In this work, I sought to capture the essence of surrealism, playing with absurdity and exuberance. The central character, old but full of life, embodies freedom and the refusal of conventional norms. His broad gestures and open posture defy the boundaries of confined space, suggesting a world where constraints are pushed back. My goal is to bring a vibrant energy and a touch of fantasy to every space where this piece will find its place.

Jean-Marie Gitard (aka Mr. Strange), painter and digital artist, draws inspiration from the surrealism of Dali, Magritte, and Hooper. Using photomanipulation and digital collage techniques, with a rare use of oil paint, he creates enigmatic works with touches of absurdity. His works blend poetry and sharp criticism, arousing surprise, curiosity, and reflection by straddling the real world and the imaginary.
