About this artwork
Triptych Illiad
oil, acrylic and ink on paper
150 x 65 cm
A triptych (from the Greek τρίπτυχος / tríptukhos, “triple, folded in three”) is – in the field of fine arts – a work painted or sculpted in three panels, the two outer flaps of which can be closed on the middle one.
This format developed mainly in the 12th and 13th centuries, in the context of altarpieces, religious painting in Europe.
Triptychs fall into the broader family of polyptych… paintings.
