About this artwork
In this painting, I wanted to capture the raw, vibrant energy of a bustling city through warm, contrasting colors. Each brushstroke of oil and pigment expresses an intense emotion, a life force pulsing beneath the surface. I created this passionate radiance so that your home might be filled with a dynamic and welcoming energy, full of movement and depth.
Jean-Pierre Villeneuve, initially trained in fine arts before turning to medicine, always painted and sculpted with passion, primarily in Paris and later in Provence. He worked in oil on canvas with both palette knife and brush, and also practiced black and white drawing, painting on paper, and creating sculptures from welded sheet metal, developing a surreal and evolving approach. His work explored urban light, bodies, still lifes, and dreamlike architectures. Through his creations, he conveyed a profound admiration for art and a fascination with form and light, evoking both wonder and reflection.
