About this artwork
Cuba has a human quality you don't feel in most countries. I wanted to get across on paper its sense of intimacy, while making sure that I caught the fabulous spectrum of colours and the unself-conscious attitude of the its proud inhabitants. The works in my Cuba series are a projection of pleasure and attitude. I painted them over twenty years ago, but they remain among my favourite works for their timeless quality.
