About this artwork
A metal mask made from recycled car parts, HAGUS started with oil pan parts, blades from a torque converter and springs from manual clutches. The marbled blue paint finish is made from layers of paint sanded to reveal the texture of the underlying surfaces. Jeff Mann is an award-winning sculptor based in Canada whose works have been exhibited both nationally and in the United States. He describes his intuitive based artistic process as eschewing narrative or representation and being environmentally based. Unlike abstract or intuitive art, Mann's work often centers around the car and computers, which he believes define our culture. His diverse compositions are created using a variety of materials which include steel and aluminum.
