A humpback whale breaches in front of a Mount Augustine sunset in this heat tinted, pierced steel and Baltic birch plywood relief.
The patina on the steel is created with heat from a large torch. The surface of the backboard is textured with cuts from a large chisel. The log along the bottom edge has been tossed by many a storm along Cook Inlet and Kachemak Bay.
