About this artwork

This oil painting was inspired by a harbour town on the east coast of Scotland that I visited this summer. At the time and day there were no fishermen so the figures are from my drawings and imagination.
In this work, I have captured the vibrant life of the port, using oil paints to capture the movement and excitement of fishermen going about their daily work. Inspired by expressionism, I seek to convey the strength and communal spirit of working… at sea. The vivid shapes and colours reflect the energy and harsh beauty of maritime life, invoking a sense of community and perseverance that is sure to add a touch of inspiration and warmth to any home.
