About this artwork
This mixed media painting was painted on birch. I wanted to use the cleanest flattest surface so when I did use texture, it had more importance. I was trying to be as minimal as possible.

US artist Jennifer Bobola's work is inspired by her love of jazz improvisation. She sees sound as color and shape, and is always searching for something unique. Like her beloved jazz improvisation, her pieces combine many elements - abstract expressionism, rhythmic line, and different textures. She uses mediums such as joint compound, rice paper, markers and spray paint to create her pieces, discovering new shape relationships that facilitate conversations from one side of the painting to the other.
