About this artwork
Medusa was created within the context of my Paradoxical series. This series on sleep was artistically significant and symbolic; Medusa was a female figure who resonated with the sculptures of the artist who accompanied me in this exhibition—it was a duo show with the sculptor Bénédicte Parmentier. The intense contrast between acrylic and charcoal creates a vibrant dialogue between strength and delicacy. I love the raw power of black on Indian cotton… canvas.
Jennifer Miville, a painter and printmaker originally from the Lower St. Lawrence region, has a solid background including a BFA in Painting and Drawing from Concordia University and an award-winning background in set and costume design. She uses techniques that combine visceral and meditative gestures, exploring action painting and minimalism to create works balanced between raw energy and calm, where light, nature, and architecture engage in dialogue. Her refined works, dominated by black and white, invite intimate contemplation and a profoundly spiritual emotional experience.
