About this artwork
In Elysium - the dream I take the viewer into a world beyond waking consciousness - a sphere of golden dreams and infinite fantasy. Inspired by my trip to the SOFA art fair in Chicago in 2019, the work reflects the pulsating energy of the art world and oscillates between reality and dream.
I explore the power of the subconscious, which – according to Freud – is greater than our conscious mind. In this work I open a window to hidden dimensions,… where boundaries blur and new realities emerge.
Golden layers of color create a paradisiacal depth, magical shapes and faces appear – remote, mysterious, almost tangible.
With Elysium I show that dreams are more than night illusions - they reveal worlds full of longing and visions. I invite the viewer to immerse themselves in this golden dream landscape and feel the impossible for a moment.
Jens-Christian Wittig, known as JCW, blends classical artistry with digital innovation, creating works that blur the lines between painting, photography, and illusion. With a background in fine arts, landscape architecture, and urban planning, he explores composition, transformation, and spatial perception.
His multi-layered technique, inspired by classical glazing, fuses tradition and digital evolution, crafting an immersive experience of light, depth, and ambiguity. Each piece invites interpretation, evoking emotion and sensory connection.
Internationally exhibited, including at Art New York, Miami, and Los Angeles, JCW’s works captivate collectors worldwide. He explores the tension between past and future, permanence and transience, forging a visual bridge between reality and imagination.
