About this artwork
SOHO Sunset Facade
Shanghai in the light of a new beginning – and reflected in an artistic biography. SOHO Sunset Facade is part of a successful series created in the years when Shanghai was reinventing itself in the frenzy of urbanization. Back then, everything was in flux: new architecture, new rhythms, new dreams. I was there – professionally and artistically – and absorbed this energy. It was a turning point that continues to shape my artistic… career to this day.
The work condenses this moment of awakening into a pulsating panorama of light, color, and vertical movement. Facades flow, towers dance, the city seems to vibrate—like a symphonic composition of neon, glass, and possibilities. Reality dissolves at its own pace, becoming an abstract promise of the future, wealth, and density.
SOHO Sunset facade is more than a cityscape – it is memory, transformation and an artistic echo of a time when anything seemed possible
Jens-Christian Wittig, known as JCW, blends classical artistry with digital innovation, creating works that blur the lines between painting, photography, and illusion. With a background in fine arts, landscape architecture, and urban planning, he explores composition, transformation, and spatial perception.
His multi-layered technique, inspired by classical glazing, fuses tradition and digital evolution, crafting an immersive experience of light, depth, and ambiguity. Each piece invites interpretation, evoking emotion and sensory connection.
Internationally exhibited, including at Art New York, Miami, and Los Angeles, JCW’s works captivate collectors worldwide. He explores the tension between past and future, permanence and transience, forging a visual bridge between reality and imagination.
