About this artwork
In this series, Yi is addressing the personal yet universal emotions of people through the objects around us, countered with its always changing appearance. Spotlighting intensely on the stillness of the regularly overlooked objects, the paintings invite audiences on a regressive journey beyond the mundane through the coalescence of time and space and reflecting their own small histories.

« My paintings are not mere documents that maintain an optical fidelity to the world perceived but rather are forms of visual manifestation of a wordless reality of experience »
JeongIm Yi is an award-winning South Korean artist whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, in Austria, the United States, and Japan. As a resident of the United States, and often finding herself between cultures and places, her art relates to the emotional experiences that intersect both time and space, which are universal yet also intensely personal. Yi's photorealistic compositions convey the center of realities through "vulnerable stillness", portraying anonymous stories that invite viewers on a journey to their own pasts.
