Jeri Griffith is a painter with work rooted in a rich and varied personal history. She draws inspiration from experiences ranging from a childhood spent on a wildlife refuge to extensive travels as an adult especially in Latin America. Media she employs include acrylics, ink, watercolor, graphite, and collage. In her acrylic paintings, she applies thinly layered translucent color to achieve a look akin to stained glass. Her figurative, non-realistic style borrows from Romare Bearden, folk and Inuit artists, and Meso-American influences. She works intuitively, calling on imagery from her interior life, relationships, and the natural world.
