About this artwork
Okay. So it had been a while since I last painted, and let's be honest, there's no excuse for not painting. I'd like to tell myself that it's because I'm too busy writing fiction, or priming canvases, or having a fucking head cold. The point is that there is no excuse for making art. Except maybe that my studio gets up past 37C and ALL my paints dry nearly instantly. God I need air conditioning. Buy this, and I can save up for an air conditioner.

Jessica Stepushyn’s art was, and still is, driven by the need to socially isolate herself from “the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune”. The Canadian painter and sculptor’s compositions vary widely in their themes, from the concepts of particle and wave physics to geometry, color, and the subconscious. While Stepushyn ‘shuns realism’, she also isn’t averse to creating silly, generic, or superficial pieces. Her style, techniques, and mediums are in a constant state of evolution.
