About this artwork
Inspired by concepts in physics, the artist looked to create an interpretation of a black hole. Instead of paint, in many areas of the piece she has left the wood bare, to accentuate the unknown around these rare and challenging natural phenomena.

Jessica Stepushyn’s art was, and still is, driven by the need to socially isolate herself from “the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune”. The Canadian painter and sculptor’s compositions vary widely in their themes, from the concepts of particle and wave physics to geometry, color, and the subconscious. While Stepushyn ‘shuns realism’, she also isn’t averse to creating silly, generic, or superficial pieces. Her style, techniques, and mediums are in a constant state of evolution.
