About this artwork
I experienced a bit of a dry spell this month. I had been preparing for a timed painting competition and I literally painted myself dry, so this is my "recovery" piece. I tend to have a color theme in my pieces that are a bit too heavy in blues, so I tried doing a piece without using blue, and this is the result. I don't care much for art work that has muddy colors, but in this piece it works perfectly. It reminds me a lot of a piece I did in art…
college about war, but no one wants to hang that on their wall. Besides. All of my friends see something slightly different, so it still works as a non-representative piece.

Jessica Stepushyn’s art was, and still is, driven by the need to socially isolate herself from “the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune”. The Canadian painter and sculptor’s compositions vary widely in their themes, from the concepts of particle and wave physics to geometry, color, and the subconscious. While Stepushyn ‘shuns realism’, she also isn’t averse to creating silly, generic, or superficial pieces. Her style, techniques, and mediums are in a constant state of evolution.
