« To me, painting works like an act of evasion. Maybe that's why some of the figures may transmit that idea, maybe I'm represented in all off the figures that I paint. »
Joao Teixeira tries to liberate himself from reality in order to focus on shapes and colors when creating his figurative works, blending realism with the abstract. The Portuguese artist, who has exhibited nationally in both solo and group events, has a passion for the intensity of oils. Teixeira’s compositions usually begin with an acrylic undercoat, while he also utilizes spatulas, spoons, and brushes in his creative process.
