Celebration, wild celebration, is a dance. It isn't scripted so much as felt and offered without editing into the music which allows and inspires it. Celebration can be joyful; it can also seem almost desperate as if trying to say something for which there are no words. I see it as a unique, personal, and pure act which everyone can perform no matter who they are, where they are, where they've been, or what is going on in their lives. That act…

This oil painting tries to express the essence of celebration. A joy which can be shared by everyone is at the heart of this dance. It happens when we, the dancers, abandon everything but our common humanity and the undefinable spirit which each of us carries and offers to the world. I don't know of any other activity which is both primal and elegant at once.
Ready to hang, with deep sides painted in turquoise, this work will offer its own spirit with each viewing.
