This is a limited edition Giclée print. If urban street photography is about capturing the hustle and bustle of everyday life in the city, rural street photography in the small towns of the central and western United States is the opposite. Dirt Roads lead to dying towns where all that’s left of commerce, if you’re lucky, is a gas pump, a bail bondsman, a run-down beer joint and a church of one sort or another. What once passed for downtowns are… now boarded up often collapsed buildings. The only signs of life tend to be an overabundance of flags, crosses and gun advertisements, the images of last things left to hold on to now that everything else is gone. This photo is part of an ongoing project I’ve been working on for a while. It’s tentatively titled Crosses, Flags and Guns: The economic roots of Christian Nationalism.
