All of my limited edition photographs are museum quality Giclée prints. What I feel when I’m on the Great Plains is what I suspect most people experience in the grandeur of the mountains or at the sea. The vast expanse of the empty land offers a solitude I’ve never experienced anywhere else. Its ocean of grass and rows conveys loneliness and reflection. And when the skies are troubled, something akin to sadness or melancholy. They are truly art in… creation.
This photograph is from my most recent project for exhibit, “Altered Plain: Reimagining an Empty Land,” which I’ve been working on for a few months at a time during each of the past few years. It’s an exploration of how human activity can transform the blank canvas of the Great Plains into minimalist photo opportunities. The things we do to the plains or just leave behind, forgotten, can create stunning and unique landscapes when they are all that exists between the camera and the distant horizon.
