About this artwork
I created this work to capture the emotional intensity of natural elements, conflict and harmony between earth and sky. Using acrylics, oil, oil pastels, pigments and tar, I tried to evoke the wild embrace between the dark tumult of the ground and the ethereal vastness of the blue. Born in Erice, Joetta Savona is an artist who trained at the Art High School of Trapani and the Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo. She works in an informal and gestural manner, indulging in large formats and a wide range of materials. Extremely emotional, her early work was known for its drama and dark hues, notes that are still present, although now using a wider range of colors. Her work oscillates between a denunciation of human pain and a sense of well-being provided by the contemplation of nature.
