About this artwork
As a school psychologist by training, John is often interested in the psychological dimension of human behavior. He believes that we are all flawed. We have emotions - and unique personalities - and at some point in our lives, most of us become "broken" to various degrees. It may be the break-up of a relationship, a lost job, death of someone close, or just life beating us up. This painting was a combination of brush and palette knife - a technique…
that he's going to be exploring more of. This one should be framed - and that will be your contribution to the art!

« Art gives me the opportunity to communicate the necessity of finding your own truth, and it's my hope that you will learn something about yourself through my work. »
John Barney is an American artist whose paintings have been featured in numerous solo exhibitions nationally. Formerly a school psychologist, he is fascinated with the concept of people working out issues in their personal lives. Therefore, Barney's portraits often portray subjects in "serious countenance". In addition, he is also intrigued by the hidden story a piece of art conveys, as the viewer's psyche and personal life experience will "fill in the blanks".
