About this artwork
This painting is another in John's as yet to be formalized series "Deconstruction" in which a person really looks inside themselves hard in order to makes sense of their place in the universe. The lines imply that they are taking their own measure in hopes of self-awareness. The painting in the frame gives you an idea how it might be displayed - lots of options since it was done on heavyweight art paper.

« Art gives me the opportunity to communicate the necessity of finding your own truth, and it's my hope that you will learn something about yourself through my work. »
John Barney is an American artist whose paintings have been featured in numerous solo exhibitions nationally. Formerly a school psychologist, he is fascinated with the concept of people working out issues in their personal lives. Therefore, Barney's portraits often portray subjects in "serious countenance". In addition, he is also intrigued by the hidden story a piece of art conveys, as the viewer's psyche and personal life experience will "fill in the blanks".
