About this artwork
This forlorn woman is struggling - you can almost touch the sadness. You can feel her trying to make sense of the chaos that surrounds her, both internally and externally. She is "transforming" - yet we don't know where she will end up...in a good or bad place. This painting has 1.5 inch sides that are painted - so it doesn't need a frame... ready to hang. It was created with a palette knife, so texture is in evidence.

« Art gives me the opportunity to communicate the necessity of finding your own truth, and it's my hope that you will learn something about yourself through my work. »
John Barney is an American artist whose paintings have been featured in numerous solo exhibitions nationally. Formerly a school psychologist, he is fascinated with the concept of people working out issues in their personal lives. Therefore, Barney's portraits often portray subjects in "serious countenance". In addition, he is also intrigued by the hidden story a piece of art conveys, as the viewer's psyche and personal life experience will "fill in the blanks".
