About this artwork
This is a large and detailed work. I was hoping to capture the almost cathedral like grandeur of very tall elms in the fall . It is a painting to lose oneself in the woods when they put on their golden crown. Impossible of course to truly convey the sense of scale.. but one can but do one's best.
Once again I am choosing to paint a time when the leaves are halfway through their fall and the structure of the trees is revealed but there remains enough… foliage to soften the shapes where needed.
