About this artwork
This work was painted "en plein air" at Ormiston Gorge in the West Macdonnell Ranges near Alice Springs in Central Australia. The gorges of the Red Centre are spiritual places revered by the local people for tens of thousands of years. Here we see a small group of figures exploring the gorge beyond permanent water hole and surrounded by red sandstone cliffs. The painting is oil on 3mm gessoed medium density fibreboard.
