About this artwork
This is a combination of custom mixing UV dry pigments in an acrylic base. After squeegeeing UV ink through a blank screen I dripped random UV inks on top of the canvas. I then use a squeegee and randomly stroked the canvas pressing the inks and pigments into the canvas. While the dripped inks are wet I dusted the inks with asphalt glass that are micro-spheres of clear glass. I cured the inks with a heat gun to make the glass embed itself permanently…
in the inks. In the first two images, a full image and a detailed image, the painting is lit with a UV bar light which is included with the purchase. The second two images are shown with natural or LED light.

« I see the world as a symphony of color and pattern and the visual interpretations I create are a lasting impression of what I see. »
John Spears is an experienced artist based in the United States whose paintings have been featured in solo exhibitions nationally. He describes his artistic practice as not following a school of thought, rather, he is inspired by the exploration of patterns, both random and organized. Spears primarily creates using silkscreening techniques, employing a palette and squeegee like a paintbrush.
