About this artwork
Hello, Springtime is my favourite landscape time of year. Here I have sketched a much loved scene from nearby my home. The colours at this time of year are amazing, and I could stay out and paint all day, given the chance. The painting is worked from sketches made in situ and completed at the studio. Enjoy xx

« All those like me who follow this artistic life, are looking for a quiet place to germinate and grow in a mad world. »
John Welsh is interested in the visceral response of the viewer. The UK-based painter and photographer’s work captures emotion and feeling through landscapes, abstracts, or figures. He works solely using oil paints on canvas and has a preference for creating on larger surfaces. Welsh employs a technique that applies successive washes, building up the image over time.
