Pale path in the winter dawn
My main intention was to create a calm, contemplative atmosphere and to highlight the unique light and mood of a winter day.
I chose a strong linear perspective that draws the eye into the distance. This dark element contrasts sharply with the surrounding white/pale ground and emphasizes the path as a route or central focal point. In my concept, the dry grasses and thistles in the foreground play a crucial role. They… lend structure, movement, and a sense of fragile life to the still, cold landscape. I painted them with fine, dynamic brushstrokes to give them a frosty, almost sparkling effect. I chose a reduced, muted color palette dominated by cool grays.
As an artist, I am always looking for dialogue, for the emotional connection that arises between me, my work, and you as the viewer.
