DRYING-SHIPS AFTER 07/15/23
Mood played a huge factor when I finally sat in front of easel to start this work. I was euphoric, yet sedate, almost trance-like after another perfect walk around the grounds. The temperature was in the upper 60s (my favorite) with a gentle breeze blowing about. The sounds of nature were echoing from every direction. A deer followed my wife and I through part of our walk (see photos) curious as to our mission while at… the same time the fish were spawning in the lake. They were literally splashing in and out of the water, while ducks, geese and swans gently sounded off. It was all so grounding, so pleasing, which then inspired the animated color palette as well as the broad, playful brushstrokes...each stroke is a study in simplicity, pure emotion, and representative of an experience, a visual communication with nature.

« Either way, my message for the viewer is simple. Enjoy my work for its visual elements. Experience the excitement of the micro, macro, and then the subliminal. Rinse and repeat. »
Jon Parlangeli is a passionate American painter and sculptor who has widely exhibited his work throughout the U.S. Fascinated by the process of creation, he composes works that experiment with color and the physicality of paint. Parlangeli's creations stand out for their depth and tactility, appearing as explosions of bright color and unexpected shapes. Parlangeli additionally includes a representational balance of nature and humanity in his work, that merges with abstract elements to create a kind of historic bibliophile hidden in the paint.
