About this artwork
I made this painting of waterlilies alongside a docked boat along the south bank of the Spree River in Berlin, Germany, en plein air, or outside on location. The mermaid and merman at the top of the painting were wooden decoratons hanging from the bough of the boat, and they drew me to the scene, as did the anchor and the waterlilies. I made the painting in about 4 hours on an afternoon in June 2024.
