About this artwork
Mirror image (selfies)002 by Jonathan Redmayne. A new abstract portrait action painting that captures the essence of the current climate…a powerful piece with beautiful brush strokes . Stylised faces with exaggerated features and forms. Dynamic colours exploring shape, form, movement and the ability to change the minds perception of concept . Painted on 1 October 2022.
My new series "Selfie's" studies the deceptions of achievements, appearance… and personality. This current body of work explores narcissism, self absorption, success and insecurity. No matter how good you think you look, there's something about posing for a selfie that might frame you in a bad light. Smile for the camera.
(All pictures are for illustrative purposes and some aren’t exactly scale, this piece is stretched and unframed, framed pictures are shown to give perspective on how it would looked in a framed setting please check all measurements listed)

« Purely aesthetic characteristics are important to me, although I'm attracted to working with the extremities of color through vibrant compositions. »
Jonathan Redmayne is an artist based in Australia whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, as well as in England, Italy, Argentina, and the United States. He describes his works as challenging global consumerist culture while also paying homage to great expressionist movements. Redmayne's bold compositions embody a visual aesthetic that "emotionally confronts the viewer". He creates using recycled acrylics and mis-tints from sustainable sources.
