About this artwork
The process for all my art begins with a general idea. Over the period of the art work creation, the idea evolves to accommodate and react to the physicality of the paint properties. A period of experimentation and adaptation takes place representing the evolution of the underlying idea.
I use all tools available to me in the creation of a work, the final image and surface reflecting the process of creation. Each work possesses its own set of issues… and challenges, some develop more easily than others and the time period over which a work develops can be almost instantaneous to almost a year, with many older works being repainted into new pieces.
My work aims to apply the principles of Zen - Austerity, Simplicity, Naturalness, Subtlety, Imperfection, Break routine and Stillness.
To understand my work, a viewer must suspend disbelief, think beyond the present reality and realise the work represents an artificial space that has an uncanny ability for communicating anything.
